Short Description
A stout, plain catshark with small eyes, a long thick and broad snout, and long labial furrows; mouth projecting well in front of eyes; pectoral fins very short [536]. Uniformly black or dark to medium brown or grey; no markings [536].

Distribution

fisheries: of no interest

Biology
Oviparous [536]. Embryos feed solely on yolk [733]. Benthopelagic, 1000-2000 m depth (Ref. 58744). Found on the continental slope, on or near the bottom [517]. Feeds on small bony fish, shrimp, squid, and possibly other sharks [536].
