Home List of species

Important: In the following lists you'll only find analysed papers!

In the menu "List of species" you have four possibilities:

Extant - complete list

In this list the names of the species are used like the author of the paper did.

Extant - valid species

In this list you'll only find valid species. The used synonyms are under the "info-button". The number in brackets shows how many papers there are available for this species. The number of the complete papers (with synonyms) can be different.

Extinct - complete list

In this list the names of the species are used like the author of the paper did.

Extinct - valid species

In this list you'll only find valid species. The used synonyms are under the "info-button". The number in brackets shows how many papers there are available for this species. The number of the complete papers (with synonyms) can be different.

This list is mainly based on "Cappetta, H. (2006) Fossilium Catalogus, Elasmobranchii Post-Triadici" and is currently updated.

What do the used symbols mean?

Autor = Links to papers which describe the species

fishbase = Link to fishbase.org

Info = more informations about the species (e.g. used synonyms, systematic, first description)

Informations about the extant species depend on the following two database:

Froese, R. and D. Pauly. Editors. 2009.FishBase.
World Wide Web electronic publication.
www.fishbase.org, version (07/2009)

and

Catalog of fishes, Californie Academy of Sciences, www.calacademy.org

(Pollerspöck, J. 2010, www.shark-references.com, World Wide Web electronic publication, Version 03/2010)
